I met Molly Purdy at an event. She showed me her before picture, I was amazed. She informed me on how she achieved weight loss and kept it off with proper diet and exercise. She accomplished her weight loss by being healthy and not by a fad diet. I truly respect her will, so we decided to bring her into the salon for a mini makeover, and wanted to share her story and how she achieved a new healthy lifestyle.
Two and a half years ago I was 44, obese, tired, and simply unhealthy. I had lost weight before, but always failed at maintaining my results. Now I have long-term success. I’ve maintained my 54lb. weight loss for two years-that is a totally new experience for me!
So, how did I do it? My doctor recommended I work with a health coach. That one small decision has had a very significant and permanent impact on my life and my health. Through her guidance I now understand and employ convenient healthy habits around balanced nutrition, movement and choice.
I was so empowered by my new knowledge and results that I decided to help others learn how to achieve and manage their healthy weight. Quite a change in direction from the 13 years I was employed in corporate telecommunications! I’ve been a Certified Health Coach for two years now and have helped many people achieve and manage their healthy weight. In several cases, the results have included getting people off weight-related medications for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and/or type 2 diabetes.
As a certified Take Shape for Life Health Coach, I have medically supported and convenient solutions for those who are ready to get healthy. I also offer customized programs for seniors, teens, Type 2 diabetes, nursing mothers, bariatric patients and vegetarians.
No matter the program, I teach clients how to lose up to two to five pounds a week by establishing a healthy eating pattern, balancing blood sugar and managing their insulin response without surgery or medications. The process can lead to weight loss, sustained energy, satiety, and a decreased interest in sugar and carbs… no worries, I didn’t believe it at first either. Now I don’t need willpower because I have information.
Once a client achieves their desired weight loss, they transition into the maintenance phase of the plan, which allows them to put their healthy habits to work to support lasting weight maintenance. Small actions, such as building in daily exercise and eating breakfast, add up to make a significant impact on overall health.
Throughout the process, I serve as a free health coach guide, and educator in helping my clients focus on reaching their long-term weight management goals, I am inspired when I am able to introduce optimal health to a client and find out that, due to weight loss, they have discovered new aspects of their life.

Hannah Counterman, a talented hairstylist and makeup artist for Soda, made Molly look fresh and healthy. Here are her steps to do so:
1. Use a matte concealer to create a more even canvas.
2. Use tinted moisturizer as a foundation that is light and glowy.
3. A golden beige loose powder to blend with a bronzer to contour the cheek bones.
4. Finished cheeks with a rosy blush on the apples.
5. A light translucent shadow from corners to brows.
6. A darker brown through the creases
7. Blend a soft green and more beige shadow from lid to crease.
8. Finished eyelids with brown liner and mascara.
For Molly’s hair, talented Courtney Clifton and Ashleigh Smith gave tips and concerns the client had about styling her hair.
Molly came in wanting to freshen up her look to match her brand new self! She mentioned the struggles she had recently. Having always had straight hair she found that her hair has slowly developed waves. Fine gauged waves, but plenty of it.
We decided to use Kerastase Bain Substantive as her shampoo and Kerastase Masque Substantive as her treatment/conditioner. The hair can change texture, depending on the changes in the health of a woman. The two products given will focus on distributing moisture, lipids, and protein to the hair.
For styling, we wanted to give her hair lift at the roots. We used Alterna’s Caviar non-aerosol mousse for volume, Alterna’s Caviar Texture Cream for heat protection and to give light hold and texture to her curls without weighing them down. We twirled the hair around our finger to enhance the natural curl. Diffused the hair to give bounce. Finished with Alterna’s Anti-Aging Shine and Define Spray.
