It’s no secret that Soda Salon is a great, fun place to be…whether you’re a client or an employee. Anyone who’s been here around Halloween time has seen the lengths we go to dress up, and the fun we have doing it. And any client who knows Erin Richardson knows she can do just about anything with hair, and any client who knows me knows that I have
a ton to work with.
We had a great idea about a year ago that would take our love of getting dressed up to a new level. I love to cook (you can visit me at www.facebook.com/eatwithsabrina), and Erin and I frequently have little dinner parties where we spend a lot of time in the kitchen laughing probably as much as we cook. We thought it would be fun to do a themed photo shoot in the kitchen and combine my love of food with her amazing talent as a stylist. We wanted a retro/sexy style, keeping it tasteful but still representative of our fun, wild
personalities.
It took time to find the perfect outfits, photographer, and
team of stylists. One of our choreographer friends at Dance 101 also happens to be a photographer, and that is how we recruited D. Norris for our photo shoot. Amber Oberly and Shaughn Gonsalves, two of our team members from Soda, came along to help us achieve the modern pin up feel that we were looking for with our hair and makeup. The process involved a lot of curling, spraying, pinning, and laughing….and the end result was fantastic.
This was a really great day, and such a fun thing to share with my closest friends. It
was so amazing to see the hair transformation in all stages, and for someone who doesn’t wear much makeup like myself I was pleased to see how great it all looked once it was all finished.
We wouldn’t have been able to do it without our stylists (Amber Oberly, Shaughn Gonsalves, and Erin Richardson), photographer (D. Norris), and artistic director (Daniel Day Zuko). And I would highly recommend taking a day with your girlfriends, getting dolled up, and having pictures taken. Even if it’s only ‘just because’…
