Hair and Skin for Men
As women we make a point to have our hair treated, cut, and colored on a regular basis. We sit at the salon for hours, try new products, and spend time everyday making it look just right. But what about men? We know that most of them aren’t interested in doing as much work, or spending as much money. But the truth is their hair and scalps need love too! There are certain things to look for in products that can keep maintenance to a minimum and a man’s hair full and healthy.
Taurine is an amino acid that helps to fight against the hardening of the collagen around the bulb of the hair, which is a main factor of premature hair loss. D-Biotine is a vitamin that has an inhibiting effect on the production of an enzyme responsible for male hair loss. Ceramide and Arginine protect and add substance to the fiber for stronger and healthier hair.
Kerastase has a new line of men’s products that covers all of these bases. Bain Capital Force Anti-Oiliness is a daily treatment shampoo has a cooling effect that leaves hair squeaky clean, while Bain Capital Force Densifying is also a shampoo, and though it has a thickening effect, it leaves the hair feeling and looking healthier.
There are also spray treatments available in this line to maintain the hair’s health. For styling there is Gel Capital Force which is a medium hold for healthy looking hair and Pate Capital Force, also a medium hold, which respects the hair and provides lasting flexibility.

FOLLICULITIS
Are you or the man in your life suffering from what appears to be acne; you in your bikini area and he in his beard? This is probably folliculitis. This can occur when hairs are trapped under the skin’s surface and inflammation and pus is created. This is especially a problem in very curly and coarse hair.
The hair curls back never breaking through the skin’s surface. Exfoliation of the area is necessary to keep the follicles open and clean allowing the hair to penetrate the skin. This undoubtedly will be a chronic problem. To alleviate the folliculitis there is a better way. Laser hair removal destroys the actual hair follicle, thus removing the source of the irritation.
The melanin (color) of the hair attracts the energy of the laser and drives it into the shaft of the hair destroying the bulb. Because not all hairs are growing at the same time multiple treatments are necessary. Unfortunately, because the laser is attracted to color, light blond or grey hair does not respond very well. If you question whether you’re a candidate; we can do a test spot to judge the effectiveness.
